About the Order of Lumen Gentium
The Order of Lumen Gentium is a new ministry of the Archdiocese of Mobile. This group, made up of young adults who either live or go to school in our archdiocese, is mentored by the staff of the Office of Religious Education and the Office of Youth Ministry.
The “Order of Lumen Gentium” takes its name from the Vatican II Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, “Lumen Gentium”. This document’s opening lines are, “Christ is the Light of nations. Because this is so, this Sacred Synod gathered together in the Holy Spirit eagerly desires, by proclaiming the Gospel to every creature, to bring the light of Christ to all men, a light brightly visible on the countenance of the Church.” In this spirit, The Order of Lumen Gentium’s mission is to indeed bring the light of Christ to all men.
This trained group is now available to share their faith stories to groups throughout the archdiocese in a number of settings, especially through youth ministry and religious education gatherings. If you are interested in having a member of the Order of Lumen Gentium come to your parish, please contact the Office of Religious Education or the Office of Youth Ministry for more information.
